Difference of squares
· In special products we revised (a + b)(a – b) = a^2 + b^2
· The following special product is known as difference of squares.
Example: Factor the following polynomial.
9x2 + 4
= (3x + 2)(3x – 2)
· If the numbers can’t directly be square rooted, then use common factoring first.
